The Bethany Community Centre was designed by Aulík Fišer Architects. Long, clean lines form the building’s exterior, accented with expanses of glass. Two aboveground floors are divided functionally into two main parts – a spacious hall for worship services, cultural and educational events, and lectures, and the second is a kindergarten, school cafeteria, and two flats. The interior of the community section is executed in light tones complemented by natural materials.
The Bethany Community Centre is operated by the Czech Association of the Church of Seventh-Day Adventists. The Centre holds a variety of courses and seminars, concerts, exhibitions, social and charitable programmes, regular worship services, and a Bible study programme. Since September 2009, the building has been home to the Elijáš kindergarten, which offers preschool education and activities for children aged 3 to 6 years. The kindergarten was founded on Christian principles – children can learn basics of English or choose from a wide variety of afternoon activities. Healthy eating is emphasised here.
